As much as I love pan fried pork chops, I’m a big time sauce girl and love the flavor it brings to our dinners. Smothered pork chops were a no-brainer for me. The pan gravy takes all those beautiful juices from the pork chops and turns them into a fab sauce. I even like to put the pan gravy on my mashed potatoes if there’s a little extra. You can take your smothered fried pork chops to another level by adding yellow onion slices to the gravy while it simmers. It’s a more traditional approach and will get you a big thumbs up from onion lovers.
I remember having breaded fried pork chops at my grandma’s house growing up and I love sharing meals I loved with my boys now. The best part about this recipe is that it goes with just about all of your favorite sides. I’m partial to my mom’s mashed potatoes and green beans, but southern fried corn and cauliflower pancakes are pretty fabulous with these pork chops too. No matter you serve them up, I’m sure they’ll become a regular part of your dinner rotation.
