A Drunken Pumpkin Mocha is the perfect drink to make on cool fall nights when you want something a little more fancy than hot chocolate!
After a day has finished and the dinner dishes are soaking, grab some RumChata and make this delicious drink to wind down! If it’s Thanksgiving, I like to have a slice of Pumpkin Pie, that I hid in the refrigerator, to go with it. Shhh!
You may be wondering how I got the “mocha” part of this recipe in here, and I am going to tell you a little secret. When I realized how similar Rumchata tastes to white chocolate syrup in coffee, I decided this combination tastes just like those pumpkin white mocha drinks… but with booze. If you want to make this a traditional mocha, you could add some melted chocolate or white hot chocolate into the hot coffee.

A pumpkin spice mocha cocktail is perfect hot or cold and with regular or decaf coffee. I like to have a hot decaf if it’s later in the evening and I just want to relax with a sweet treat.
If you have been to Dunkin Donuts lately you may have seen the Pumpkin Mocha they have. You will like this one homemade version better, promise. For one it is a cocktail, and two it just has a better flavor in my opinion.
Rumchata is a liqueur that has a smooth creamy taste with a hint of cinnamon. It’s one of those dangerously good liqueurs that doesn’t really taste like alcohol, making it the perfect addition to a coffee drink!
Ingredients for Drunken Pumpkin Mocha
Coffee – You need to have brewed coffee, either decaf or regular. You can make it as strong as you like too.
Cream – Half-and-half goes into the drink and I like to put whipped cream on top too. If you don’t have half-and-half on hand, you can absolutely use milk or cream instead.
Rumchata – A little bit goes a long way and adds a delicious silky touch to the drink.
Pumpkin Spice – Add a little syrup and spice to the coffee itself and then sprinkle a little pumpkin pie spice on top for that yummy fall smell.
If you are just trying Rumchata for the first time you can probably find the small single serving bottles at your local liquor store, but I would recommend the bigger bottle because you will find plenty of new ways to use it once you try it.
If you are looking for a dairy-free version of this pumpkin mocha recipe, you can substitute your favorite non-dairy alternatives for the half-and-half and whipped cream.
You would need to leave out the Rumchata as it does contain cream. Instead, you can add some spiced rum or silver rum in its place, but only 2 ounces. Adding white chocolate flavored alcohol or whipped cream flavored vodka would be similar in flavor, but you will have a stronger alcohol taste and not as creamy.
How to Make a Drunken Pumpkin Mocha
- Brew the coffee.
- Pour in the pumpkin spice additions and stir.
- Add in the half and half and Rumchata and mix well.
- Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of seasoning and enjoy.
This version of a pumpkin mocha breve is about as easy as it gets and takes no time at all, the longest part is brewing the coffee. Having a Rumchata pumpkin mocha will become your favorite fall treat with a warm blanket and a little dessert!
What is a Mocha coffee?
Traditionally a mocha (mocha latte or Caffè mocha) is an espresso or coffee with the addition of steamed milk and some type of chocolate syrup. It can also be served cold with milk and ice.
