I’d like to prepare this and then take it to a party and heat it up there. Any reason this would not keep for around 1- 1.5 hrs between prep and cook?
Aubrey Cota says
I think it would be just fine. In fact it might help to begin the marrying of all the flavors.
Bev says
Awesome dip! Definitely a keeper
Aubrey Cota says
Yay so glad you like it! Thank you Bev.
carol Heckman says
could you use something besides Ranch dressing mix? my family doesn’t like that kind of dressing.
Julie @Real Housemoms says
Hi Carol! You could use garlic powder, onion powder, salt & pepper – all to taste – to season the dip. Hope this helps!
Rebecca Potts says
My daughter Inlaw makes this. But she adds taco seasoning instead of ranch. She adds lettuce and tomatoes on top when done. She calls it taco dip. So good

Any tips on what to dip in it? Crackers or bread or Tortilla Chips
Julie @Real Housemoms says
Crostini, bruschetta toasts, wheat thins, or your favorite sturdy crackers would all be great options!
Erin says
We made it tonight (so good!) and I used baguette slices, Ruffles chips, and Tostitos scoops — they all worked with the dip ?
It was a touch salty for my taste (even before the Ruffles) but otherwise so so good ??
Carolyn m Renstrom says
Great dip, bad name/title for it.
Janet says
This sounds so awesome!! Can it be made ahead of time and reheated in the microwave? I am thinking of making this for a potluck lunch we have coming at work in a few weeks!
Myra stewart says
I made it in a casserole crock pot and it turned out great! I even doubled the recipe for a large crowd… received raves about it! I called it cheddar bacon ranch dip!
Kristy says
How long did u cook it for? High or low?
Melissa Parton says
I want to try this for sure. But would life to replace the bacon bits with real crumbled bacon? Also I wonder if I could use Greek yogurt? Definitely will try this!
Meha says
I want to use real bacon as well.. did oyu try it.. and was it good:)
Aliesha says
Any time I use real bacon with a recipe I put it on top when it’s done because I like it crispy and it can get too soggy being cooked inside anything liquid like at all.

How can you rate a recipe you haven’t tried???!!! You gave it 3 stars but haven’t made it??! This is so Aggravating. When I look at recipes so look at their rating. But then I come on here and see you haven’t even tried it but rates it three stars! Shame.

The Crack Dip has a very good flavor and went over really well with all my family members. I did find it to be a tad bit salty for my tastes. When I make it next time I will probably adjust the bacon bits or make with a low sodium ranch dip mix. A definite keeper with a tweek or two for us!
