I feel like right now there are so many different diets out there to try it can be overwhelming, but if we stick to simple and healthier options, we don’t have to stress and be on a “diet” per se. This oven roasted asparagus is the perfect healthy option that will not lack flavor or texture.
Made with a few basic ingredients and tossed in avocado oil these asparagus roast up so tender and flavorful they will be gone in seconds once you put them on the table. Try lemon roasted asparagus for a fresh bight summer flavor.
How to roast asparagus
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Wash and trim the ends off of the asparagus and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Drizzle with avocado oil (or oil of choice) and season generously with garlic salt, fresh cracked pepper, and grated parmesan cheese. Toss to coat using a spoon or your hands and place in oven. Bake for 12 minutes or 15 if stalks are thicker.
How long to roast asparagus
Roast on a sheet pan for approximately 12 minutes or up to 15 minutes if the stalks are thicker.
How do you know when asparagus goes bad?
The first part of the asparagus that goes bad is the tips. So if you touch them and they are mushy or if they look black, that is when you know your asparagus has gone wrong.
Asparagus will typically last 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator before being cooked. Once cooked it can last up to 5 days if stored correctly in the fridge.
Does asparagus have to be refrigerated?
Asparagus should be refrigerated to keep it at it’s freshest. The best way to do so is wrapping the stalks with a damp paper towel and placing in a storage bag without sealing it shut.
Roasting asparagus in the oven is truly one of the easiest ways to prepare it, and it comes out tasting tender, but still has a bit of crispness to it that it is not overcooked.
