Ingredients
Liquor: To make this creepy cocktail, you will need apple pucker, peach schnapps, and cherry-flavored vodka. Any brand will work, and if you have the space, keep the bottles in the fridge for a nicely chilled drink.
Sweet and Sour: You will also need a sweet and sour mix to make this cocktail. You can pick some up at the store or make deliciously fresh Homemade Sweet and Sour Mix!
Food Coloring: If you’d like, you can add a drop or two of green food coloring to the cocktail to make the green a little more radioactive.
Ice: Be sure to have plenty of ice to chill each drink you make.
Garnish: To top this drink, skewer a few maraschino cherries, pop a lime wedge on the rim, or add a couple of (fake) frozen eyeballs to the glass. Use whatever you have on hand!
How to Make Green Goblin Cocktail
STEP ONE: Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add the apple pucker, vodka, peach schnapps, sweet & sour mix, and food coloring to the shaker.
STEP TWO: Pop the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds until everything is mixed and chilled.
STEP THREE: Fill a rock glass with ice and strain the cocktail into it. Garnish with a lime wedge or maraschino cherries and serve immediately.
Tips for Success
- Adding a drop of green food coloring is optional, but it’s fun and makes the drinks look pop!
- If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, use a mason jar with a lid to shake this drink. The jar lid will hold the ice back, straining the cocktail into the rock glass. Don’t have either? Then pour everything into the rock glass, give it a really good stir, and enjoy!
- To make a Green Goblin Punch, simply measure the drink by the cup and not the ounce. Made according to the directions, this drink will make 5 cups of punch, so if you need more, feel free to double or triple the amounts.
What is the green drink called?
There are many green drinks out there, but perhaps a few of the most popular are the Grasshopper, the mint julep, and the Midori sour.
- The Grasshopper and the mint julep are older than the Midori Sour, a well-known drink in the 1980s with its melon-flavored liqueur.
- The Grasshopper is a sweet mix of chocolate and mint, a much-loved flavor combination that extends far beyond this cocktail.
- The mint julep is an old Southern staple, a refreshing cocktail perfect for hot summers. Unlike the other drinks, it’s not green all the way through but instead has flecks of mint floating around.
As you can guess, green drinks are most popular during Halloween and St. Patrick’s Day, but they’re all so delicious that it’s a grave-robbing crime if we don’t enjoy them all year!
Why is it called a goblin?
Historically, folklore illustrations and descriptions of goblins have been of green little creatures. The term “goblin” also refers to a mischievous and self-indulgent person.
It’s easy to see why a bright green, alcoholic drink would be named Green Goblin! Holiday-themed drinks are always a hit with a crowd, especially Halloween drinks, where you can use all your favorite spooky words to un-liven up your boozy creations!
