Better Than Sex Cake, or BTS Cake, is an iconic cake recipe. For real. If you’ve never tried it before, then I suggest that you get on that because you’re really missing out! Better Than Sex Cake is also known as Better Than Anything Cake, to keep it a little more PG for the kiddos who also enjoy this dessert. No matter what you call it, this cake is heaven on a plate! It even rivals Red Velvet Cake for my all-time favorite cake recipe.

We love easy desserts around here. We don’t always have a lot of time to make elaborate things, so easy has always been our go to. We don’t shy away from “semi”-homemade either. We love a good cake mix in this house. The main reason that we love cake mixes is that they are a great base for a lot of different desserts like cookies and bars. It also cuts down on time spent in the kitchen since I’m not making things completely from scratch. Don’t get me wrong, we love our from scratch recipes, but like I said, sometimes just a basic semi-homemade dessert is all we need to put smiles on our faces and keep our bellies full. This recipe for Better Than Sex Cake is semi-homemade, but you could easily swap out a boxed cake mix for your favorite homemade chocolate cake.
What is Better Than Sex Cake?
- This easy poke cake starts with a chocolate sheet. Then it’s topped with sweetened condensed milk, caramel sauce, whipped topping, and toffee bits. What’s not to love about that?!
How to make better than sex cake
This cake starts with a boxed chocolate cake mix. Any type of chocolate cake mix will do, fudge, dark, German, you name it, they will all be amazing in this dessert.
Then you bake it all up as directed on the package and poke holes all over it with the back of a wooden spoon. Then you pour a whole can of sweetened condensed milk over the top followed by a jar of caramel sauce.
You let it cool for a bit and then spread it all with some whipped topping and sprinkle it with some toffee bits. I mean doesn’t that just sound like absolute heaven? It should because it really really is.
The pouring of the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce over the top of the cake makes this a super moist and super rich cake. Let me warn you now, this Better Than Sex Cake is NOT for the faint of heart or for those people who don’t like overly sweet treats. This cake is super rich and super sweet, and it’s supposed to be. Hence the name my friends!
So if you’re craving that one dessert that will really satisfy your sweet tooth, that will go over well with a crowd and you won’t have any leftovers of, then this is the cake for you! If you like this semi-homemade dessert you might also like this Italian Ricotta Cake and Chocolate Pecan Piecaken!

Tools used to make this Better Than Sex Cake recipe
Mixing Bowl: These mixing bowls get used just about every day at my house. The grip handle makes them easy to hold and the pour spout makes them perfect for batters!
Whisk: This is my favorite set of whisks. There’s a size for every job and the thicker handles give me a good grip.
Baking Dish: This baking dish is a must-have for any home cook. I actually have 3 of them in my cupboard, and each dish comes with a lid for storing leftovers or taking your dishes on the go.
Wooden Spoon: Wooden spoons are a kitchen essential. I keep a bunch of them on hand for every meal from breakfast to dinner.
Rubber Spatula: Rubber spatulas are one of those kitchen tools you don’t realize how much you use until they’re all dirty. This set of three spatulas in various sizes and shapes will make cooking everything from dinner to dessert a breeze.
