Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is an easy dinner that can be put together fast, letting you walk away and forget about it. It’s so full of flavor your family will be asking you to make it all the time!
This Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken comes together so insanely fast and the flavor is killer! One of the best things about using a slow cooker is the amazing smell that fills your house all day. I love it. I also feel like I get a little more credit from my family for all my hard work with dinner when they can smell it all day. Don’t you?! This time I year I’m always diving into my best crock pot recipes dinner. I don’t heat up the kitchen, everyone loves dinners, and sometimes there are even leftovers so I have lunch taken care of for the next day as well.

Things are starting to ramp up here in my house. I feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day right now. I recently shared a picture with a friend of my GIANT pile of laundry that I can’t seem to conquer. I’m busy with all the exciting things happening here on RH and some super exciting things to come. I also have 2 little monkeys home for summer still that are heading back in few short weeks. Back to School is a little sad and a whole lot of happy. I love hanging out with my guys and being able to be relaxed with bedtime if something has come up but I we need a routine. I need the time in the morning when they’re both in school to get work done. Working from home is so incredible and I’m lucky that I get to do it but I was so naive when I thought it would be easier. The summers are hard because I find myself feeling guilty working while they’re here, but needing to work. Then 10, 11, 12 o’clock rolls around and I’m trying to get all my work for the day finished up. So with all this craziness happening my absolute favorite thing in my kitchen right now is my slow cooker!!!
I love being to throw everything into my crock pot in the morning with just a few minutes of prep work. Then I can get my work done or play with my boys without having to babysit our meal. It also frees up extra time in the evening since dinner is already cooking! This Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is so fantastically easy to make. It’s one of my favorite chicken recipes, and you know why? There are only 5 ingredients in this recipe!!!! F-I-V-E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only that but they are all things you probably keep in your pantry all the time. I love a simple dish I can turn to that tastes amazing. Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken will be making a regular appearance on my dinner table this school year!

Very dry and the sauce was overly sweet.
Aubrey Cota says
I’m sorry to hear that it didn’t work out so well for you.
Patricia Butler says
The size of chicken breasts varies. Can you give me an idea of how many pounds of chicken you’re thinking of for four chicken breasts?
Aubrey Cota says
Honestly, it’s just a matter of using what is the appropriate amount for your family or whomever you’re feeding. I typically buy my chicken from Costco and so they vary even from package to package. You would just want to buy what has worked for other meals in the past, just as long as you are not overloading the slow cooker the cook times shouldn’t be affected by how many pounds of chicken.

I used this recipe, upped the honey to about 1/2 cup, and added one onion. I took the sauce out at the end which was very watery, and cooked it down in a frying pan adding about a tbsp of corn starch. It was WONDERFUL and will be a household regular. Thank you!
Aubrey Cota says
So glad you liked it! Thank you, Stephanie.
Amber Martz says
Do you think this has to be served with rice? Or can it stand on its own? What sides do you recommend?
Aubrey Cota says
It does not have to be. If you are looking for a healthier option you can use riced cauliflower or zoodles, or any vegetable of your liking for that matter. If you’re not looking for the healthy option then mashed potatoes would be great as well.
Mary coon says
Is there a substitute for soy sauce
Aubrey Cota says
If you can find it Tamari Sauce is a close substitute, otherwise something like Worcestershire are great store bought options.
James says
If you haven’t tried it yet, a “less sodium” option is “liquid aminos”.
I know I’m only 5.5 years behind, but I just discovered the recipe:-)
Mary says
I added minced ginger as well and about a teaspoon of pepper, it turned out great, definitely great with white rice and some veggies 🙂
Aubrey Cota says
Great idea!! Thank you!
Stephanie says

This looks really good.plan on doing this tonight. But I’m only using to chicken breasts.also,my husband is a diabetic so I think the ketchup is too much sugar.honey is OK but I don’t want to use the ketchup on top of that.what do think would be a better option? Thx!
Jenna says
Can I put chicken on top of eachother ??? I need to make 6 chicken breast and only have a small crock pot !!! This looks amazing !!!
Beverly Snyder says
Could you use maple syrup instead of honey?Wasn’t sure about maple and garlic.
Julie @Real Housemoms says
Maple has more or a caramel flavor to it from the sugars being boiled down versus the straight sweetness of honey. Syrup is also thinner so the sauce might not come out right. I’d stick with honey if you have a choice.
Spike says
I loved the flavor but the sauce was a bit thin, so I poured off the sauce into a saucepan and simmered until it thickened! Will make again!
Heather says
I want to make this tomorrow. This will be the forth meal I’ve made in the Crock pot. My first three turned out excellent. My question is this: If I’m using two good sized chicken breasts, would I cut everything in the recipe in half? It’s only going to be myself, my boyfriend, and I eating it so I don’t want to cook four chicken breasts just to go directly by the recipe. I can’t wait to make this either way. Sounds delicious.
sarah says
Would it taste OK without garlic??
Julie @Real Housemoms says
Leaving the garlic out would change the flavor profile. I don’t it would taste bad, but it’ll be missing something. If you try it, let us know what you think. 🙂
Karen says
Flavor is wonderful but the appearance was different. Not sure why.
