Ingredients
Peaches: You will need fresh, ripe peaches to make this ice cream. Pit and chop the peaches before using them, and don’t worry about peeling them; the skins add even more flavor to this chilly treat.
Dairy: Purchase both whole milk and heavy whipping cream to make this recipe.
Sugar: You will need granulated sugar for this ice cream.
Extract: A little vanilla extract is also needed for this recipe.
How to Make Fresh Peach Ice Cream
STEP ONE: Stir together the chopped peaches and 1/2 cup of sugar in a bowl and allow the fruit to macerate for 2 hours.
STEP TWO: After 2 hours, strain the peaches from the peach juice and set the juice aside. Puree half of the chopped peaches in a blender. Set the puree aside and keep the rest of the chopped peaches in a separate bowl to use later.
STEP THREE: Using a mixer or a bowl with beaters, beat the milk and sugar together. Once the sugar is mixed in, mix in the heavy whipping cream, peach juice, and peach puree.
STEP FOUR: Pour the ice cream mixture into your ice cream maker and follow the directions for making ice cream according to your machine. Shortly before the ice cream is finished, add the remaining chopped peaches and allow the ice cream maker to finish.
STEP FIVE: Once the ice cream maker is done, transfer the soft-serve ice cream to a container. Freeze the ice cream for 2-4 hours until it reaches your desired consistency!
Tips for Success
- You will need an ice cream maker to make this recipe because it does need to be churned. If you don’t have one, there are a lot of good machines out there, and once you make this peach ice cream, you’ll want to make all the flavors of ice cream you can dream of!
- Remember to toss your ice cream maker’s bowl into the freezer before making ice cream! Or keep it in the deep freeze so you never have to worry about it.
- There’s no need to peel the peaches before you chop them, the peach skin adds even more peach fragrance and taste.
Can I use frozen peaches?
There is always a need for delicious peach ice cream, but we all know that fresh peach season doesn’t last long! Frozen peaches can be used instead of fresh peaches, without even needing to thaw them. Measure out the same out of frozen peaches and macerate them according to this recipe- the peaches will thaw as they macerate. Once soft and juicy, you can use them just as you would fresh peaches. On the other hand, Canned peaches are not like fresh or frozen peaches and can not be used in this ice cream recipe.
How do I store peach ice cream?
Peach ice cream and any other homemade ice cream can be stored short-term or long-term. If you’ll be enjoying the ice cream pretty quickly you can store the ice cream in a loaf pan and cover it well with plastic wrap. This is generally a good way to store it if you finish the ice cream within 2-3 days. For longer storage, consider purchasing a freezer-safe container that stores about 2 quarts. A freezer-safe container like this will keep the ice cream fresh and creamy for about 2 months.

- 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions

- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the sugar and milk together until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add in the heavy cream, vanilla extract, peach juice, and peach puree.
- Put the frozen ice cream maker bowl into the machine. Pour the ice cream base into the bowl and proceed as your ice cream maker directs.
- When there is about 5 minutes left before you need to stop the ice cream maker, add in the chopped peaches. Once the time is up, you will have soft serve ice cream.
