We love simple and classic dishes in our house. Anything I that can whip up fast with fresh ingredients draws us in; this Creamed Spinach recipe is exactly that.
Now I know that a lot of people, mainly kids turn their noses up at the thought of spinach, but in reality, it is really delicious and so good for you!
What is Creamed Spinach
- Fresh spinach
- Butter
- Garlic
- Flour
- Half and half
- Parmesan cheese
- Nutmeg
- Salt and pepper
These are ingredients we usually have in our pantry the majority of the time because we are those people that will add spinach to a lot of our pasta meals, my kids have come to love it!
Now half and half isn’t something that we always on hand, but you can substitute half heavy cream and half milk because essentially that is what half and half is, you can also make creamed spinach with cream cheese so no worries with that ingredient.
Some other creamed recipes we love are these Creamed Potatoes and this Slow Cooker Creamed Corn! We love those alternative side dishes so much because they are classics!
We serve this creamed spinach recipe alongside our Southern Oven Fried Chicken a lot of the time. The flavors of the two as a meal go well together.
