With so much happening around Thanksgiving gatherings, the kids definitely need their own area to keep them entertained. This year the kids will love sitting at our kid’s table because I took the typical crayon bin and kicked it up a notch with this cute Pilgrim Hat Crayon Holder!
This is an easy project you can make and place at the center of the kid’s table, or if time permits, make one for each child.
Follow the easy steps below to make a Pilgrim Hat Cup Holder.
- 9 oz. Solo cup
- 2 Sheets of black card stock
- 1 11 x 2.5″ piece of brown craft paper (I cut it out of a paper roll), plus a 1 x 1″ square
- 1 sheet of yellow or gold craft paper
- Exacto knife
- Hot glue and glue stick
- Black craft paint and foam brush
- A dessert sized plate (any type)
Start by painting the top rim of the cup, and allow it to dry to the touch (a few minutes). Cut out the bottom of the cup with the Exacto knife, make sure to trim off any excess with scissors. Place the cup down on your work space (top down), and wrap one of the pieces of black card stock around it, securing it with the hot glue. Cut the card stock down to size.
Wrap the brown craft paper around the ‘hat’ along the base, cutting the excess off to a clean finish, and turn it to the opposite of the seam side. Cut out a 1 x 1″ square of the yellow paper, and lightly glue it to the center of the brown paper. Add the small brown square to the center of the yellow square to make the buckle of your pilgrim hat.
Trace the dessert plate in the center of the remaining piece of black card stock, and cut it out carefully. Glue the top of the hat to the black card stock circle.
Toss some crayons in to the Pilgrim Hat Crayon Holder and give the kids plenty of paper to color. The kids will love this cute take on a traditional Thanksgiving staple!
There are so many ways to make the kids Thanksgiving experience special, what do you use to add some fun to the kid’s table?
