This 4-ingredient Kiwi Smash is fruity, refreshing, sweet, and minty, making it the perfect drink to sip on St. Patrick’s Day or a warm night!
St. Patrick’s Day means all things Irish! Shamrocks, Leprechauns, dyed rivers, hearty foods, and lots of alcohol – Guinness, whiskey, mint juleps, and now this killer Kiwi Smash. This cocktail is made with vodka, cool mint, and sweet agave for a crazy good drink that’s perfectly festive!
Kiwi Keeps this Cocktail Cool and Colorful!
Kiwifruit is such an underrated food! Once you get past its unattractive appearance and slice into the fruit itself, it’s beautiful and delicious!
The fleshy part of the fruit is bright green and filled with tiny edible deep purple seeds. A ripe kiwi is tangy and sweet, tasting much like a strawberry-banana combo. Ripe kiwis are perfect for drinks, smoothies, a Boozy Tropical Fruit Salad, or a beautiful green garnish!

Alcohol: Clean, clear vodka is the spirit of choice for this delicious drink!
Fruit: Obviously, we’re using kiwi for the Kiwi Smash! One peeled kiwi per drink.
Sweet: A splash of agave (or simple syrup) gives this drink just the right amount of sweetness without compromising its beautiful green color or smooth texture.
Garnish: A few sprigs of mint are blended in with the kiwi and agave for a rich, bright emerald green St. Patrick’s Day drink!
How to Make a Kiwi Smash
STEP ONE: Peel one kiwi (see Question section below for the easiest method!) Combine the kiwi, mint leaves and agave syrup until a pulp is formed. the consistency will be almost jam-like.
STEP TWO: Add 2 ounces of vodka and ice. Shake well until thoroughly chilled.
STEP THREE: Pour into a large rocks glass and enjoy this refreshing drink!
Tips for Success
- If you don’t have agave, you can make your own simple syrup with 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Simply heat the water very hot (do NOT boil). Add in the sugar, stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool. That’s it!
- If you plan to make several Kiwi Smashes for your celebration, feel free to prepare the kiwi ahead of time. Peel completely, then slice the kiwi into sections and place on parchment paper in the freezer. After a couple of hours, transfer the frozen pieces to a baggie and place in freezer until an hour before party time!
What’s the Best Way to Peel a Kiwi?
Kiwis are super easy to peel! The outside is tender and the inside is soft since there are no hard seeds or pits. Start by slicing off both ends of the kiwi. Next, slip a spoon inside right against the skin and run the spoon around the inside perimeter of the kiwi. Voila! This completely separates the fruit from the skin. Toss the ends and the peel and enjoy the tangy sweetness of this versatile fruit!
