Now that fall has arrived, we are back in the full swing of school, sports, and routines. That also means we get to enjoy the company of family and friends at football parties and holidays! I don’t know about you, but every gathering I host HAS to have buffalo chicken dip.
Then again, sometimes you just need to give your buffalo chicken dip a twist to liven things up. Buffalo Chicken Deviled Eggs are just the ticket to wow your guests with a flavorful and exciting play on a classic appetizer.
Ingredients Needed for Buffalo Chicken Deviled Eggs
- Hard-boiled eggs
- Cooked chicken
- Onion
- Bleu cheese crumbles
- Buffalo sauce
- Celery
- Bleu cheese dressing
- Green onion (for garnish)
Traditional buffalo chicken dishes are often served with cool, crisp celery and blue cheese. I wanted to make sure I all of those flavors together to make the best deviled eggs around. Celery gives it the filling this perfect, crunchy texture to offset the tangy bleu cheese.
How Do You Make Deviled Eggs
- First thing’s first: you’ve gotta start with a perfect hard-boiled egg recipe for your base. When you have your eggs cooked, cooled, and peeled, slice them in half lengthwise so you can remove the yolks. Scoop out the yolks into a bowl.
- Add all of the remaining ingredients to the bowl, except for the green onions, and mix them together.
- Scoop the buffalo hot sauce chicken mixture into a Ziploc bag or a piping bag if you have one. Pipe the mixture into the wells of the egg whites.
- Garnish with chopped green onion if you like, and serve!
When you add the onion into the egg mixture, be sure to grate it over the bowl. That way the juices get into the fillingd too. This will give it a flavor that’s out of this world!
What kind of chicken should I use?
You could go in several different directions with the chicken in this deviled egg recipe. The key is to use chicken that is chopped or shredded so that it incorporates into the egg yolk mixture. Try one of these options:
- Oven-baked or pan-seared chicken breasts, chopped into small pieces.
- A cooked rotisserie chicken from your local grocery store. Pull the chicken from the bone and chop it small.
- Canned white meat chicken. It usually comes already shredded or in bite-sized chunks that are easy to shred with a fork.
