It’s hot here. It’s no Arizona dessert heat or anything but I’m still hot. We have friends coming to visit early next month so we’re using it to motivate us to do the repairs to my office that we’ve been planning since February. To me cash is king so when we have repairs to make that can wait, I do wait until we have the cash to pay for them. This also means that we do a lot ourselves. Back in February for my birthday we were finally going to paint my office/photo studio white. My office is a little sun room that sits off the side of the house. It was at some point a deck I think that was walled in and had a roof put on. It’s this light blue color that casts a blue hue onto my picture. While we were getting the paint we saw some flooring on clearance for $0.68 / sq ft. so we couldn’t pass it up.

When we got home I started pulling up the glued down carpet that was on the linoleum floor we were going to replace. This was all done by the previous owners of our house. While pulling it up we realized it was glued down to hide the water damage on the flooring. So we started looking for the damage and found it was getting in from everywhere in the roof. After pulling down the wood paneling from the ceiling I went out during a rain storm and found water coming in from just about every nail hole in the roof. It was like a colander up there.

So, this weekend was our weekend to tackle the roof. We talked with the most helpful guy ever at Home Depot, watched every kind of roof repair you tube video we could, rented a roofing nail gun and climbed up the ladder, phone in hand for more video watching as we went. It was a small area, just over my office or we probably wouldn’t have tackled it. We were up there for two days, the inside of my house just fell apart from lack of attention, and we are officially hot and exhausted but WE DID IT!!!!!

Now we’re onto our next project, the inside………..
