I love tacos year round so of course when it comes to planning my Cinco de Mayo celebration they are at the top of my list. This Salsa Verde Shrimp Taco Recipe is one of my favorite taco recipes for Cinco de Mayo because they taste great and don’t require much work, just like this easy pineapple salsa. With a few fresh ingredients and some added flavor from my favorite Ortega products, these easy shrimp tacos can be made in less than 30 minutes. What You’ll Need To Make Shrimp Tacos
- Shrimp – You can use fresh or frozen (and defrosted) shrimp for this recipe. You’ll want to remove the tails and peel the shrimp before cooking.
- Ortega Fish Taco Seasoning Mix– This taco seasoning mix adds the perfect amount of spice to your shrimp. Ortega Mexican Seasonings are made with the highest quality ingredients and they use a unique blend of spices to provide true authentic Mexican flavor.
- Avocados – You’ll want to make sure you have perfectly ripe avocados because we’ll be making these into guacamole!
- Ortega Guacamole Seasoning Mix – Guys, I don’t know where this has been all of my life but now that I’ve found it I use it all the time. This guacamole seasoning mix makes perfect guacamole every time. It’s perfect for balancing out the spice of the shrimp. Make extra to serve with chips and salsa!
- Ortega Green Taco Sauce – Ortega Taco Sauce is the #1 Best Selling Taco Sauce in America for a reason. This mild green taco sauce has the tangy flavor of green tomatoes, tomatillos, and jalapenos. Don’t skip this ingredient it really brings the whole dish together!
- Ortega 8-inch Flour Tortillas – You can enjoy these delicious easy shrimp tacos as a hard taco or a soft taco. I like to eat mine as a soft taco so I use the Ortega 8-inch flour tortillas. They are just the right size for filling with shrimp and toppings.
- Taco toppings – Use your favorite taco toppings such as red cabbage, crumbled queso fresco, tomatoes, jalapenos, corn, etc.
Now that you have everything you need to make these spicy shrimp tacos, here’s how to make shrimp tacos everyone will rave about! Start by making the guacamole using the ripe avocados and Ortega Guacamole Seasoning Mix. This way it can chill in the fridge while you get the rest of the meal ready. Toss the shrimp in the Ortega Fish Taco Seasoning Mix with water and vegetable oil and let it marinate for 5 minutes. Heat a pan over medium-high heat on the stove top while the shrimp marinates and when it is ready, add the shrimp and the marinade to the pan. The shrimp will cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through. Place them in a warm flour tortilla with some guacamole, Ortega Green Taco Sauce, and your favorite toppings and you’re ready to party!
The great thing about serving Salsa Verde Shrimp Taco Recipe at a Cinco de Mayo party is that there isn’t just one way to make them. I’ve listed everything you need to make this shrimp taco recipe as a soft taco but Ortega Taco Shells are also available in Yellow Corn, White Corn, Whole Grain Corn, and new Good Grains varieties. They are all made the traditional way, with 100% whole kernel corn, not corn flour, which gives them an authentic flavor, aroma, and texture. Add some to the table along with the flour tortillas to give your guests the option of hard or soft tacos.
