Many of you know, if you follow Real Housemoms, that I moved to Portland a few months back. We’re all really loving it so far! The people are incredibly nice, it’s beautiful and green and amazing and everyone in my clan seems to be settling in really easily. One thing that I’m crazy excited about is berry season. If you aren’t aware, Oregon has wild berries everywhere. I came out with my husband this summer to look for a house and help get him settled to start work. There were berries on the side of the streets and in the forest everywhere. Not the scary, eat at your own peril kind, but the blackberry, blueberry and raspberry kind. They even have something called a marion berry that I had never heard of but now I’ve had and love!!! Brace yourselves because this summer you’re going to find a lot of berry recipes her at RH.
While dreaming about summer the other day, with a foot of snow outside, I came up with this Portland Breeze, a tasty rum cocktail, for my husband and I. I used frozen berries that I defrosted because I didn’t have fresh but once summer rolls around I’ll be hitting up the u-pick farms for some berries to make this and other yummies. I love the color of this drink about as much as the taste! It’s so beautiful and easy to make. It will absolutely be a crowd favorite this summer but don’t let the groundhog stop you from making this now!
