Easy Breezy
Fresh or frozen berries are my jam all year, and I love including them in as many recipes as possible. That’s easier to do during the summer when we can go berry picking or stop by a farmers market, but I’m so thankful that I can grab frozen berries whenever I need to, especially to make a few Portland Breeze Rum Cocktails! Bright and bubbly, this refreshing drink has the perfect tart sweetness, and the rum and triple sec add delicious, rich, and citrusy notes. This cocktail takes only a few minutes to prepare and is perfect for patio sipping!

Soda: Pick up 7UP or your favorite bubbly lime-lime soda.
How to Make a Portland Breeze Rum Cocktail

STEP TWO: Fill a shaker with ice and add the silver rum, triple sec, and sweet and sour mix. Shake the drink well until chilled.
STEP THREE: Strain the drink into the glass with the muddled berries.
STEP FOUR: Fill the glass with 7UP. Then garnish your drink with more berries and a sprig of mint. That’s it!
Tips for Success
- Frozen blackberries are perfect for this drink, but you can also mix fresh and frozen berries. Muddle the frozen berries with the ice and garnish your drinks with fresh blackberries for a beautiful presentation!
- You can muddle this drink using a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon- both work perfectly.
- Store the ingredients to make this drink in the fridge. That way, mixing up a cocktail stays cool for a little longer and won’t melt the ice quickly.
What goes well with the blackberry flavor?
Blackberries are a wonderful fruit with a muted tart and sweet flavor that adds an amazing taste layer to sweet and savory preparations. They can bring a depth of flavor to citrus drinks and dishes that contain mangos, lemons, and oranges. Vanilla, almonds, and hazelnuts are delicious additions to blackberries, as are mint, peaches, and other berries, to create cooling drinks and tasty sauces!
Is 7UP good with rum?
7UP, with its fizzy lemon-lime flavor, is a great bubbly soda to pair with various spirits. White, silver, and spiced rums are fun to add to 7UP, as the sweet citrus flavors all play well together. Coconut rum is also a tasty spirit to mix with 7UP. Use 7UP in other delicious rum drinks, like Mojitos and Rum Ramblers, or whenever your cocktail calls for a lemon-lime soda!
