Crisp and sweet Oven-Dried Strawberries are incredibly easy to make, a delicious topping for yogurt or ice cream, and the perfect snack!
Oven-Dried Strawberries are a sweet way to snack or make your morning yogurt even better! Slice fresh strawberries and bake them in the oven for a good amount of time for a condensed strawberry flavor that is crispy and chewy. They are perfect to enjoy as a snack, mixed into a fruit trail mix, or as a sweet topping that everyone loves!
Sweet Summer Snacking
Freshly dried fruit is a treat, and there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy it! Oven-dried strawberries are a huge favorite because their sweetness is perfect for snacking on throughout the day. There is a wonderful crispiness, chewiness, and overall bright strawberry flavor that is amazing on vanilla ice cream, a bowl of yogurt, or mixed with other dried fruit like banana chips! I tend to grab a lot of strawberries when they’re on sale, and then can’t always get through all of them, so drying them in the oven is the perfect way to enjoy them for a little longer!
There are so many delicious ways to enjoy fresh strawberries during the summer, like sweet Strawberry Freezer Jam and Strawberry Sorbet, to keep you cool!
Other Recipes to Serve with Oven-Dried Strawberries
- Fresh Strawberry Soda is a fun, bubbly drink loaded with fresh strawberries and creamy vanilla ice cream!
- Pick up more berries to make everybody’s favorite summery sweet Strawberry Shortcake!
Ingredients
Strawberries: Pick up fresh strawberries to hull and slice. Slice the strawberries about 1/8 of an inch thick. Don’t slice them too thin, or they will stick to the parchment paper, and if they are cut too thick, they will take a very long time to dry.
Sugar: Taste one of your berries to see if the sweetness is to your liking. If not, grab some sugar to sprinkle over the sliced berries.
How to Make Oven-Dried Strawberries
STEP ONE: Preheat the oven to 200°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Remove the stems from the strawberries and cut them into slices widthwise or lengthwise.
STEP TWO: Arrange the sliced strawberries on the baking sheet, leaving plenty of space between them. Sprinkle a little sugar over the berries if you like. Bake the strawberries for 2 hours.
STEP THREE: After 2 hours, flip the strawberries and bake for another 2-3 hours, or until the strawberries are dried. Once out of the oven, allow the dried berries to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Tips for Success
- The strawberry slices will dehydrate quite a bit during baking, so be sure not to slice them too thinly. Thin slices will stick to the parchment paper and become impossible to remove.
- After arranging the strawberry slices on the baking sheet, sprinkle a little sugar over the berries if needed. You don’t want to sprinkle enough sugar to macerate the berries and release the juices, but just enough to make them sweet.
- This all-natural recipe does not contain preservatives. The dried strawberries can be kept on the counter in a sealed container for up to five days.
What’s the best way to dry strawberries?
The oven is a great way to create dried strawberries and is the one appliance we generally all have. If you enjoy dried fruit, there are a few reasons why a dehydrator may be a better investment. First, most dehydrators are multi-level, which means you can dehydrate a good amount of fruit. Secondly, drying fruit takes hours, which may interfere with your other baking needs and warm up your house. Drying fruit in the oven is great, but if creating your dried fruit is your jam, you may want to consider a dehydrator!
Are baked strawberries good for you?
Oven-dried strawberries made without preservatives are so very good for you! Just as nutritious as fresh strawberries, dried strawberries contain all the same vitamins and minerals, plus drying can increase the fiber naturally found in strawberries. The natural sweetness of strawberries is condensed when dried, which is why they’re perfect for snacking on or topping ice cream rather than turning to cookies or sugary syrups. Fresh, frozen, or dried, strawberries are sweet, cooling summer heroes!

Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 pint fresh strawberries
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Remove the stems from the strawberries. Then cut them into slices, either widthwise or lengthwise.
- Place the strawberry slices on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each slice. You will want the air to be able to flow easily between the strawberries. Sprinkle with sugar, if desired. (see note)
- Bake for 2 hours. Take the baking sheet out of the oven, and flip the berries over. Bake for another 2-3 hours until sufficiently dried.

Can we do the same recipe with other fruits ?
Aubrey Cota says
It would depend on the fruit as each one is different with a different water content. You could certainly start off with the fundamentals that this recipe provides and adjust accordingly for whichever you choose.

How big is that serving with 57 calories?
How do you store them
Would you freeze these or just freeze fresh?
Thanks!
Aubrey Cota says
Approximately 40 grams or 1/3 cup.

I put them in the oven for 2 hours and they were still not dried. One more hour. Another 30 minutes . Took them out and they are still wet to the touch. They are totally disgusting . To expensive to try. Two lbs of strawberries for the garbage .
Aubrey Cota says
Total cook time on these are up to 5 hours. First side is 2 and them flip them over and place back in the oven for an additional 2-3 hours. It sounds like you may have over crowded the pan, might have been better to do them in two batches. I’m sorry that it didn’t work out as well as you hoped, but I promise they are totally worth it!!
