I am no fashion police, and honestly I’m not a fan of RULES either, when it comes to beauty and fashion! But if you were to ask me what the key clothing staples that every woman should have in her closet are… I’d give you this list of items that I personally think are key in my OWN closet – that I believe would fit perfectly into any woman’s closet to create a wide variety of outfits. ♥ I hope you enjoy, and please do share with me, the items that are staples in YOUR closet! I would love to hear more, and learn what your must haves are.
–A plain white and/or black top or tee shirt. While I think a button-up shirt is important, a regular tee-shirt is just as great! This is something you can easily dress up or down depending on the occasion!
–A well fitting pair of dark wash jeans. Again jeans (as long as they are fit well to your body shape) are easy to dress up or down. Cut doesnt matter either – its all about preference and what looks best on YOUR body shape! So if its skinny jeans, boot cut, trouser pants – its all good, as long as they fit you well!
–A comfortable pair of black heels. I know heels are not for everyone* – but are needed for special occasions. I love heels and if you asked my husband, he would tell you I have way too many! haha I love them all, but of all the colors, and styles of heels I have – I find that I wear my plain black (and most comfortable) heels the most! They just go with everything! My preference is closed toe, with a strap around the ankle. They just feel more secure, and look great too. *Here is a little tip for you if you are not used to wearing heels often… A few days before you need to wear them (for an event or night out) wear them around your house while doing chores, or making dinner. If you fall or feel awkward – its ok, because you are at home! This gives you time to get used to them, break them in a little and feel more confident when you end up wearing them out of the house!
–A Blazer (or 5) haha I love blazers! I have my go to black blazer, but I also have a couple in different colors and even a floral blazer. They may seem “loud” at first, but you would be amazed and how well a blazer can really pull an outfit together.
–LBD!! The Little Black Dress… A plain black dress is always essential in your closet. Again, as I stated about the other items style is completely up to you! Any style or fit that flatters your body shape most and that you feel the MOST confident in will do. Whats great about a “little black dress” is that it will be amazing on its own – but can also be jazzed up with a colorful belt, scarf, blazer, heels or jewelry.
-Speaking of Jewelry – Statement Jewelry is next on my list. Last but definitely not least… Here is where you can have fun spicing up all the “plain” or “simple” items posted above! Owning a few pieces of fun, chunky, colorful jewelry is a great way to really take your outfit to the next level! You can choose from a bold necklace, fun earrings, big blinging rings or some arm candy! Its up to YOU – again – your style and preference. ♥ And here is a tip: You can get all kinds of gorgeous statement jewelry on the cheap from ebay!
