When it comes to Summer, most of our beauty routines tend to become pretty basic… For me its Sunscreen, Concealer, Mascara and a clear lip balm. Nothing fancy, just the bare necessities. Still, I am the type who absolutely LOVES to get all dolled up, and make a statement with my makeup, when I can. So boring old Summer Makeup Routine aside – these next few products have been absolute favorite to jazz up my makeup routine lately!
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge ($5.99)
This beauty sponge is amazing. It does a fabulous job at blending your foundation for a flawless even look! Because you use it damp, it really makes your skin feel cool and hydrated as you apply foundation. Many people say its very comparable to its more expensive counterpart – the beauty blended. I personally have not tried the beauty blender, however I believe I’d still prefer this one from real techniques because of its unique shape. Its sort of egg shaped like the beauty blender, with one difference… This one has spot with a flat surface, which I find more versatile. You can use the pointed side for more precise parts of your face (eyes, nose) and the flat part for fast application on the rest of your face.
L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB ($7-$10)
In the Summer I prefer to use a foundation that is a lot more light weight, but still offers decent coverage. I am a HUGE fan of this BB cream by L’Oreal because its got amazing coverage yet it so weight, you dont even notice you are wearing it! Its also real neat because it transforms from white to your perfect shade!
Now I know this Palette is a little more on the wild side for MANY women. But I have been LOVING it. Summer is a time when I want to rock fun bright colors. Whats amazing about this Palette is that it has many uses! Not only can you create limitless eye looks with it – using it for eye shadows, or as a neon eye liner.. You can also use some shades as blush, you can use these pigments in your hair as hair chalk, or even scraping some shadow into a clear polish to make your own custom nail polish! If you use your imagination – the possibilities are just about endless!
Blank Canvas Cosmetics Contour Palette ($15)
This handy palette has been my go-to for high light and contour! To some it looks like a possible dupe for the Anastasia Contour Kit… Now I have only JUST got the Anastasia kit (literally yesterday) – so I cannot compare or justify that it is in fact a dupe. What I do know is that the BCC Palette is 3 times the size of the Anastasia kit. And that the BCC palette contains all matte shades whereas the Anastasia kit is a mix of mattes and shimmers. I am excited to play around with my new Anastasia kit, however I really do love the BCC Palette, the quality is AMAZING especially for the prize. The shades are very creamy powders, they don’t have a lot of fall out and they blend like a dream. I am a huge fan and highly recommend for those of you looking for a contour kit on a budget.
Milani Baked Blush ‘Rose Dior’ ($7.99)
If you are looking for an amazing drug store blush (or brand in general) to fall in love with – look no further than Milani! First off, their products in general are gorgeously packaged and the quality is perfection. This summer I have been IN LOVE with their baked blush in Rose Dior! I honestly believe this blush would look amazing on ANY skin tone. Its the perfect shade of pink with super fine gold shimmer that just makes you look like you are glowing! Its honestly a MUST HAVE!
Maybelline Define-A-Lash Mascara ($7.99)
As for mascara’s – I am sure you might expect me to give you a water-proof mascara to wear in the Summer. But unfortunately, no. I personally am not a fan of water-proof. I think if you are swimming or doing something that requires water-proof, just be brave and go without it! I promise you ladies its better than worrying if your mascara is running or flaking! OK, Stepping off my soap box, now…
I have been obsessed with two this Summer. My holy grail is the Define-A-Lash mascara by Maybelline. Its super affordable and makes your lashes look super long and separated for a gorgeous defined look. It does have a flexible (rubber) wand that usually takes some getting used to. But if you are a fan of long defined lashes, you will love this mascara. Its the only one I had used for years, and have always gotten compliments on my lashes – and often get asked if I am wearing falsies!
This high end mascara that is ALL-THE-RAGE lately is a new favorite of mine. However, I personally prefer it in conjunction with the Maybelline Mascara mentioned above. A coat of better than sex mascara to add voluptuous volume to your lashes, then a coat of define-a-lash mascara to give you some length and definition.These two paired together and even YOU will think you’re wearing falsies! NYX Butter Gloss -Any Shade ($4.99)
And lastly, something to keep your lips looking luscious. You can never go wrong with a NYX butter gloss. Any shade/flavor. They all look amazing, smell amazing too.
