Homemade Sweet and Sour Mix is so simple to make and will kick your cocktails up to the next level with the fresh flavor of lemon and lime!
I grew up moving all the time. I used to move every two years! In fact, I went to 3 different kindergartens in 3 different states!!! My poor mom was in her twenties and moved 3 times in a year with 3 kids 5 and under! I can’t even imagine! Once I got to California I graduated, went to college and my parents moved away from me. I was there for 7 years then spent the next 8 years in Arizona. I turned 21 in that time and was introduced to the margarita! It was a glorious day and I haven’t looked back since. I absolutely LOVE a good margarita. It’s the best drink to have while floating in a pool or out sailing with my parents. You can make a big pitcher, so it’s perfect for parties and it’s not to sweet for some and not too hard for others, it’s just the perfect drink! I’m in Oregon now and this is my third winter. We were warned about winters here being very, very wet! We got through the first two and we did fine but this crazy wet El Nino winter is rough. We went down to California for Christmas with family and I felt like a mole person emerging from my hole. My eyes didn’t know what to do with all the sun.
I’m starting to add sunshine and summer into my cooking because I’m not getting it outside. I was dreaming of relaxing with a margarita and realized I’ve never made a homemade sweet and sour mix. I’ve used quite a bit and they’re not all created equal. I decided that I would do my research and make a sweet and sour mix that I love and that I could have on hand for card nights with friends and any other night with friends!
I found the best ratio of lemon and lime to simple syrup. I really love the citrus flavor of this sweet and sour mix. It’s so simple to make and it will last in your refrigerator for up to 10 days so you can make it ahead for a party or just the weekend! This is the real deal and I can’t wait to share with you my recipe for a Lucky Whiskey Sour that I made with it!
