Valentine’s Day is over and it’s now time to celebrate a little Irish Heritage with the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday. If you’re looking for some fun and easy St. Patrick’s Day decor this Gold Leaf Shamrock Mason Jar would make a great vase for flowers or even perfect to hold treats in!! Add some skittles or gold wrapped chocolates and you have a great little gift idea even! And it’s VERY easy to make…check it out!
What you need:
- Green Ball Mason Jar in size of your choice
- Shamrock Cutout (I used my Silhouette to cut one out)
- Gilding Cream and paint brush
- Gold Leaf
How To:
Apply stencil or cut vinyl in shamrock shape to your glass jar. I used my Silhouette cutting machine to cut out a Shamrock Shape, but you could cut on out yourself and create your own stencil if you don’t have a cutting machine.
Once the stencil is on, use gilding cream and a paint brush to gently apply some cream to the jar. Allow to sit for a few minutes until tacky.
From there you can apply your gold leaf onto the shamrock. Be sure to push the leaf all over the jar so it outlines all the bumps on the jar…I liked the look of seeing the “Ball” on the jar come through the leafing. If any pieces break off or come up, simply take another piece of the leaf and rub it on there…it’s an easy fix and you won’t be able to tell later on.
After the leaf is on, lift up your stencil to reveal your shamrock!
It’s as simple as that! Add some flowers to the jar for a nice St. Patrick’s Day centerpiece ideas…add a pump to the jar and make it a hand soap holder…or add chocolate and make it a treat jar. Just keep it out of water! Super easy and fun, right?
