Surprise your favorite teacher with a bundle of Glitter Pencils for a fun back to school gift!
Summer is winding down and for us Moms that means it’s time to get the kids back to school. Before you start to squeal in the excitement at the though of a quiet house, remember that there is so much to be done before the big day! I like to start the year off on the right foot, you know, getting on the teacher’s good side! A simple handmade gift usually does the trick, and better yet my star pupils love to see the smiles on their teachers faces. This year my boys will take a small bundle of Glitter Pencils as a ‘welcome back’ token to their teachers.
This craft is amazingly easy to make, and you can even whip it up the night before school starts; you know, in case you forget to before.
Materials:
A handful of pencils (unsharpened is safest)
Glitter in the color of your choice
Mod Podge
Small foam applicator with an edge
A paper plate (to catch all the pretty glitter)
Twine or ribbon
Directions:
The kids can help you with this craft, it’ll make it all the more personal!
Dip the edge of the applicator in a less than pea sized amount of Mod Podge, gently “paint” it on to the metal rim of the pencil.
This is the part of the craft that the kids love:
Place the plate on a flat surface and sprinkle the glitter on to the Mod Podge’d pencil, while the plate catches the extra glitter. Try not to let the kids get the glitter all over the faces (good luck!). Set on the rim of the plate to dry.
Allow the pencils to dry up at least an hour in an airy area. Gather the pencils together to create a bundle, and tie them together in simple twine or pretty ribbon.
It seems that teachers can never have enough pencils, why not give them some with a little bling? A little sparkle to welcome them back to work, and a great way for the kids to thank them for what’s sure to be a great school year!
Now if only the rest of back to school planning could be this easy!
