Do you ever have a project in your head – you’re not sure where it comes from but you know that it just has to be made? This is that project for me. Years ago I went apple picking in upstate New York and the nostalgia of it doesn’t get lost on me. It was such a fun outing and I thought that an apple picking inspired tote would be just adorable. And I was right – and bonus, it’s super easy to make!
What you’ll need:
- Canvas tote bag
- Black/dark gray acrylic paint
- Pouncer or foam paint brush
- Cricut, Silhouette or stencil
- Stencil paper or paper and tape
And the steps:
Using this Cricut file or your own design from the Silhouette, create a stencil for your apple picking tote. You could also find a standard letter stencil and apple shapes at your local craft store and piece it together like below.
Once the stencil is cut out, apply it to your canvas tote in the center of the front and using dark gray or black acrylic paint and a pouncer (they work best for stenciling), fill in the design.
Let the painted design dry, and your new DIY Apple Picking Tote is DONE! And adorable, if I do say so myself!
What do you think? Now you’re ready for apple picking or you just have the cutest tote bag for errands or weekend farmer’s markets!
