Are you still keeping up with your New Year’s Resolutions? It’s HARD!!! I was doing awesome with my exercising goal and then I got a super bad cold and it completely threw off my groove. Don’t you hate getting sick?! I had my whole week’s “to do” list planned and then WHAM! Zapped of all energy and what I did have was used to keep my kids alive. Thankfully I’m like 85% better so it’s back to working out and eating yummy healthy breakfasts like this Chocolate PB Smoothie Bowl.
Like most people, I too am crazy about all things peanut butter and chocolate. Cookies, cake, Scotcheroos… I’ll eat anything with chocolate and peanut butter. Most foods with these amazing ingredients are super high calorie and offer no benefits besides the awesome taste and texture… until this smooth bowl!
And no, it doesn’t have protein powder. I was going to put it in but who needs expensive (and not so tasty) protein powder when you’ve got Greek yogurt?! Greek yogurt is packed with protein. It contributes 18 grams of protein in this smoothie and then when you add the peanut butter you’re already up to 25 grams! Wahoo! A tasty and affordable high protein post workout smoothie. Now you can build up those muscles and still get your chocolate and PB fix all before 9am!
Of course, if you’re in a rush you can swap out the bowl and spoon for a cup and straw. But, if you’re going to chillax and read (or watch Netflix) while you eat, you might as well pour your smoothie into a bowl and top it with all the yummy goods– a little chopped up chocolate, fresh banana slices, and crunchy granola. Oh and for some extra pizazz, melt some peanut butter in the microwave and drizzle it on. Dig in and enjoy!

- 1 cup vanilla low-fat Greek yogurt
- 1 banana sliced and frozen

This recipe is delicious as written, but I’m starting to think I’m allergic to bananas, so I subbed avocado (protip: Dole makes frozen avocado pieces), and OMG. I’d forgotten how silky an avocado-based smoothie can be! It came out like a mousse, plus the peanut butter flavor came through a lot better. I also added a scoop of Carnation Instant Breakfast to replace the sweetness of the banana.
With modifications or without, I’m addicted to this recipe. Thanks!
