Drinks on the Deck

We are a summer-loving family, and you can always find us outside enjoying the day, as long as we’re not running to and from all of our scheduled activities! I love those days when we don’t have to be somewhere, and I can call up a couple of friends, have them bring their kids over, and while the kids are playing, the adults are lounging on the deck, sipping the most refreshing Summer Punch ever. I can make this punch the night before to get it super chilled or make it as everyone is arriving, it’s that easy and so delicious, it’s our go-to summer drink!

Delicious snacks are a must-have at pool parties, and both kids and adults will love Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon and Sugar Chips and Watermelon Stars with Fruit Dip!

Tips for Success

  • When making the drink to enjoy immediately, add all of the ingredients to the pitcher and pour the drink into glasses filled with ice.
  • If you don’t want to use ice or as much ice to chill the drinks, store the wine and Champagne in the fridge to keep them chilled and ready to drink!
  • Don’t break the bank by picking out pricey wine and champagne! Choose ones you like the taste of, but they don’t have to be top-of-the-line.

Do I have to use Champagne?

Not everyone is a fan of Champagne, and sometimes, choosing the right one can be overwhelming! For this Summer Punch, Champagne’s role is really to provide bubbly fun, but there are alternatives that can be used instead. Prosecco or Cava are light-tasting and bubbly substitutions that you can make that also cost less. Brands like Barefoot and others who make various wines, Prosecco, and other liquors are a good pick because they taste good in punches like this and are super affordable.

Can I use frozen berries?

Fresh berries are not always in season; even then, we can only stock up on so much fruit! Frozen fruit can be used in this Summer Punch, and as a bonus, it’ll keep your drinks chilled for much longer! Picked at their sweetest and most ripe, frozen fruit will also taste wonderful in this drink. Grab a bag of mixed frozen fruit or each kind of berry and stay cool all summer.
