I love watermelon in the summer. It is the sweetest, juiciest fruit and perfect for eating by the pool! What better way to say goodbye to summer than to celebrate with a beautiful watermelon appetizer? In my opinion watermelon doesn’t need a lot of dressing up but to make your watermelon tray a beautiful addition to your table why not opt for stars over your run of the mill cube or slices? This small detail will definitely impress your guests and it’s so simple to do. If you’ve ever played with Play-Doh you can master this! This fruit dip had to be just as simple and yummy as the watermelon, right? There are only three ingredients in this and your done with a dip that works well with all kind of fruit!
Watermelon Stars
The watermelon stars are very simple. You will start with a seedless watermelon and slice it. I do some with the whole watermelon and then I slice the melon in half and make slices of this. I found it to be easier that way. Next, take your favorite cookie cutter and cut away. If your watermelon slices are thicker than your cookie cutter, like mine, don’t worry, just use a paring knife to cut it out following the pattern left by the cutter. That’s it! Give this a try at your Labor Day party this weekend or anytime you just want some festive watermelon. Let me know how yours turns out!
