Roll a Snowman Game Supplies

For this game, you’ll need one of each of these items for everyone playing. I like to buy a big pack of dice to have on hand for games like this one and the dice game in these fun gift exchange games!

• Printable Roll A Snowman Game Card (click to print out a PDF with four to a sheet)
• A set of snowman shapes (click to print out a PDF with 10 sets to a sheet)
• One six-sided die
• Scissors for cutting out the shapes

I personally like to put each set of playing pieces (card, shapes, and die) into a plastic bag and just hand out plastic bags to everyone when you’re ready to play. This is an added step and not required but definitely helps with the organization.

How to Play This Roll a Snowman Game

Give everyone one set of playing pieces – a card, the cutout snowman shapes, and a die. The goal of the game is to build a snowman by rolling the number on the die that matches the snowman pieces. So for instance, if someone rolls a one, they can add the body of the snowman to the card. If they roll a two, they can add the snowman’s face. That’s the general goal of the game.

There are a number of ways you can play this game depending on the ages of the players, how long you have, and how difficult you want it to be.

• Option #1 – Give everyone their card and let them roll the dice at their own pace, the goal is just to finish the snowman at any point. If they finish the snowman, they win.
• Option #2 – Give everyone their card and when you say go, they begin rolling as quickly as they can to try and roll the snowman. The first person to complete the snowman wins.
• Option #3 – Give everyone their card and have everyone sit in a circle. Choose one person to start who rolls their die and builds a piece of their snowman. Once that piece if built, play then moves to the person on their left who tries to roll a piece of their snowman. If someone rolls a piece that is already built on their snowman, they are not able to build and their turn is over. Continue going around the circle taking turns to see who can build their snowman first.

An Alternate Way of Playing

For older kids or adults, you can make the game even more challenging by adding some simple rule – pieces cannot be removed to put another piece on. So for instance, if you roll the scarf first, you can’t put it on because it goes on top of the body. There are only a few pieces where this matters (hat and nose come after the face and scarf after the body), but this added rule can make it a lot more challenging because pieces have to be rolled in a particular order.
