Red White and Blue Rosette Boho Headband

Memorial Day weekend has come to an end, but that means we’re just gearing up for another celebration of America with July 4th not too far in the distance! I happen to ADORE everything red white and blue and love to find cute coordinating outfits and accessories for my family and I to wear on the 4th. So today I thought it would be fun to show you how I made this cute Red White and Blue Rosette Boho Headband. I originally started making this headband for my daughter (she’s 1), but she wouldn’t wear it, so I put it on my sister in law and realized it was ADORABLE on adults too!! Check out how I made this cute rosette headband for next to nothing with just a few supplies and in a few minutes!!

What you need:

• Red Elastic Ribbon
• 1 Stars and Stripes Bandana
• Scissors
• Hot Glue
• Small piece of felt

How to:

Start by cutting about a 2-inch wide strip of fabric off your bandana running the full length of the bandana. For each rosette, you’ll need one of these strips. So for my headband, I used three 3-2″ wide strips of fabric.

After you cut it, fold it in half lengthwise. Then fold it in half again so you have a long skinny piece of fabric. From there, you start rolling it in on itself.

So, in the beginning, you’re holding the fabric in place with one hand as you create the rosette and on the other hand you’re slowing twisting the fabric around the rosette. I do one loop, twist the fabric on itself, then do another…so that you give some unfinished edges and dimension to the rosettes.

When you come to the end of your rosette, then you hot glue it at the end and a little on the back to hold the rolls in place and set it aside.

*Please note, this is NOT an American flag. It is a bandana with stars and stripes on it, but not a flag. I don’t want anyone to think I cut up a flag.

After you make your three rosettes, then you cut a small piece of felt to use as backing. I cut a circle, hot glued my rosettes to it, then trimmed off the excess felt around the rosettes using scissors.

Finally, I added my strip of decorative red elastic ribbon to create the headband. This can be found in the notions aisle at a local craft store.

I hot glue it on either end, then use a small strip of felt to cover the elastic and prevent it from rubbing. So the elastic lies between the felt backing on the rosettes and a felt strip on top of the elastic.

Then you have a cute and fun little Boho July 4th Headband!!
