Teriyaki Burgers are Infused with Flavor!
These are not your run-of-the-mill burger patties, my friends! This recipe calls for the fresh ground beef to be infused with an amazing teriyaki sauce for loads of rich taste and panko bread crumbs for a soft, tender texture. This is SO easy to do, resulting in a grilled teriyaki burger dripping with delicious flavor! Adding to that yumminess are slices of juicy pineapple that caramelize on the grill. The combination is sweet, savory, succulent, and oh, so satisfying!

Ingredients

Meat: We’re using traditional 80/20 or 85/15 ground beef (not TOO lean!) for these burgers, though this recipe is also fantastic with ground turkey!
Burger Infusion: The ground beef is mixed with panko bread crumbs and Soy Vay Island Teriyaki Sauce (other brands will also be good, but this one is the BEST!)
Toppings: Pineapple rings (fresh or canned) and a sliced red bell pepper top this burger beautifully!
Bread: Toasted classic hamburger buns are all you need, but you could also use brioche buns, pretzel buns, or Hawaiian buns.
How to Make a Teriyaki Burger
STEP ONE: Combine the ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, and teriyaki sauce in a large mixing bowl. Cover and chill for 1 hour.

STEP TWO: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and shape the ground beef into four even patties. Grill until the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness (about 3-4 minutes per side for medium). Remove the teriyaki burgers from the grill.

STEP THREE: Remove the core from the bell pepper and cut it into four large pieces. Grilled the pineapple rings for 2-3 minutes per side and the bell peppers for 4-5 minutes per side. Then transfer them to a plate. Toast the cut side of each bun on the grill for 1-2 minutes.

STEP FOUR: Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom bun and topping it with a pineapple ring and a bell pepper piece. If desired, drizzle additional teriyaki sauce over the bell pepper. Put on the top bun and enjoy every juicy bite!

Tips for Success
- Wet your hands with water if the uncooked beef mixture feels too sticky when forming the patties.
- Add another spoonful or two of the breadcrumbs if your beef mixture feels too moist.
- Don’t go too lean here! 80/20 ground beef creates juicy patties with loads of flavor!
- Make your patties about ¾ of an inch thick and about half again bigger than your buns to allow them to shrink as they cook.
- Too much flipping can dry out the meat and break the patties. For the best result, flip only once about halfway through cooking.
- A table spoon of freshly grated ginger in the ground beef mixture adds to the island flavors!
- Instead of topping the teriyaki burgers with bell pepper, you can finely chop it and mix it into the ground beef!

How Can You Tell When Teriyaki Burgers Are Done?
Whether frying in a skillet, on a griddle, or making burgers on the grill, the absolute foolproof way to know how done your patties are is to check them with an internal meat thermometer. It’s easy, accurate, and leaves you with beautifully done teriyaki burgers! For medium rare with a pink center, the internal temp should be 135°F. Medium burgers with a hint of pink need to be 140-145 F. Well done should be about 155 F. If you’re grilling for a large group, 150-160 F should be just right for most everybody to enjoy.

Are Leftover Hamburger Patties Okay to Eat?
While nothing beats a freshly grilled burger, leftovers are just fine! Once the patties have cooled, simply store them in a ziplock bag in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat however you like—in the microwave, in a skillet, in the air fryer, or even back on the grill! They may not be quite as juicy as they were the first time around, but you won’t be disappointed!
