We’re just wrapping up our second month of school and settling into routines. It’s been crazy here! I’ve been traveling for work a lot and my husband has been home keeping the family running. I just settled in and I’m playing catch up to get in the new school routine. This year my oldest just started middle school and he got accepted into a really cool program. He’s going to an environmental science school, so he’s outside working in a garden or taking trips to study the local area and the scientists that work here. He’s absolutely loving it and so are we! The only draw back is the early bus pick up. Poor guy thought he’d get to sleep in and start an hour later with the rest of the middle schools in our area but instead he’s getting up an hour earlier than last year. He’s definitely not an early riser so it’s been tough.
After a full day at school, both my boys want to have a snack and play as soon as they get home. I’m completely on board with this. Healthy snacks recipes are the best! I’ve noticed that homework is sometimes easier when they’ve had a chance to get active or have time outside the house for a little while to decompress. They know there is a schedule and deadline to start their homework. To get them ready for playtime, I keep easy grab-and-go snacks like Frozen Yogurt Parfaits in the freezer and ready to go.
Having scheduled active time and making sure our house is stocked with nutritious snacks like Dannon Danimals and Frozen Yogurt Parfaits makes it easy for my boys to fuel their adventures! Dannon Danimals is teaming up with Fuel Up to Play 60 to reach moms and dads all over the country to encourage nutritious choices and 60 minutes of physical activity a day! My little monkeys love helping in the kitchen, especially when they get to be in charge. So we came up with a 3-ingredient Frozen Yogurt Parfait recipe that is super easy to make. I cut up the fruit to prep and then the kids take over with Dannon Danimals low fat yogurt, granola, and a popsicle mold. Once the pops are set, they have a delicious snack that’s extra special because they made it themselves. My guys always seem to like foods better when they helped make it.

I make a similar recipe for my kids for snacks! Now that I know they could win money for their school and NFL players… we’re trying it with Dannon. My kids would be so excited!!! I’m excited and they haven’t even won yet. Going to Kroger today!
