Dip Base: To make this dip, you will need softened cream cheese. You can choose regular or Neufchâtel, but avoid fat-free options if possible, for the best flavor. Also, grab a container of marshmallow cream from the store to bring fluffy sweetness to the party.

Mix-Ins: You will need a can of crushed pineapple, sweetened flaked coconut, and a small amount of vanilla bean paste for that classic pina colada flavor combination.

How to Make Pina Colada Dessert Dip

STEP ONE: In a large bowl, stir together the cream cheese, marshmallow cream, drained crushed pineapple, coconut flakes, and vanilla bean paste.

Tips for Success

  • If it’s easier for you to use beaters or a mixer to beat the cream cheese, vanilla bean paste, and marshmallow cream, you can do so. Then, fold in the pineapple and coconut using a spatula.
  • Pina colada dip is a great make-ahead appetizer! Mix up this fun fruit dip a day or two in advance of your get-together for even less to stress about and more to enjoy!
  • Keep the dip covered and refrigerated when not in use, and store leftovers for up to 2 days after serving.

What can I dip in pina colada dessert dip?

Pina colada dip is delicious enough to just eat with a spoon, but there are also lots of fun nibbles to dip into it! Cookies are a popular option, like Biscoff cookies, animal crackers, and vanilla wafers. Other tasty dipping sweets include small slices of pound cake, large marshmallows, and broken-up waffle cones or sugar ice cream cone pieces. You can even do a sweet and salty combo by including pretzels! Another delicious dipping idea is sliced fruit such as strawberries, apples, or pears.

Can I add anything to this dip?

There isn’t too much you could add to this dip to make it even more delicious, but there are a couple of ideas. First, just like any fun dessert, add a cherry on top! Ideally, you would slice up maraschino cherries to mix in, so that no one would have to fight over one cherry.

My favorite addition is to toast a little coconut to sprinkle over the dip. Bake 1/4 cup of coconut flakes at 350°F for about 5 minutes, until they turn a light golden brown color. Once out of the oven, let them cool. When you’re ready to serve the dessert dip, top it with toasted coconut for an even richer coconut flavor.

Instructions

  • Add the cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, pineapple, coconut flakes, and vanilla bean paste to a large mixing bowl. Mix until evenly combined.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour before serving. (I make the toasted coconut while that dip is chilling.)
  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, top with toasted coconut. Serve with graham crackers, Nilla wafers, or you favorite dippers.

Notes

You can use toasted or untoasted coconut flakes to top this dip. I prefer the extra flavor and slight crunch of toasted coconut personally.
To make toasted coconut: Spread 1/4 cup of coconut flakes out on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 5 minutes, until the flakes turn a light golden brown color, or a little longer as needed. Just keep an eye on things as the coconut can burn quickly. Take the baking sheet out of the oven, and transfer the coconut to a bowl to cool.
