Spiked Strawberry Shortcake

Spiked Stawberry Shortcake_Real Housemoms

Every summer we eat strawberry shortcake. My husband loves to grab those little sponge cakes that they sell next to the strawberries at the grocery store and we will pile them high with fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream! I love it. It’s so tasty and the fresh strawberries are my favorite fruit of summer.

This year for my husband’s birthday, he asked me to make a Strawberry Shortcake. It was VERY good and I’ll be sharing that recipe for you soon, but it inspired me to come up with a drink version to celebrate my birthday. Our birthday’s are very close and so this week it’s my turn. I was looking through my liquor cabinet trying to think of a fun drink to make for a birthday celebration when I got into my vodkas.

Yes. Vodkas. With the flood of flavored vodkas I have quite the collection. It’s really fun to make different drinks using all the options out there. Today cake vodka caught my eye. I mean if you’re going to create a drink to celebrate a birthday, how can you get better than cake? You can’t.

This drink tastes just like a strawberry shortcake. I used fresh strawberries that have been pureed and combined them with both cake vodka and whipped vodka. This drink is a must make for this spring and summer or if you just feel like celebrating with a fun new drink!
