Ingredients

Berries: For this recipe, you will need strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Fresh or frozen fruit works in this smoothie, and there is no need to thaw it before making it. Save a few berries to garnish the smoothies too, if you’d like!
Juice: Pick up your favorite orange juice to make this smoothie.
Tofu: Grab a block of tofu, usually found in the produce section of the grocery store, and choose the silken or soft variety.
Ice: Be sure to have plenty of ice on hand to make as many smoothies as you want!
How to Make a Berry Smoothie
STEP ONE: Add the berries, orange juice, and tofu to a blender.

STEP TWO: Blend the mixture until smooth. Add a little ice at a time, and blend until the smoothie reaches the consistency you like.

STEP THREE: Pour the smoothie into glasses, garnish with fresh berries, and enjoy immediately.

Tips for Success
- If the smoothie is too thick after blending, add a splash of OJ and blend again. Add enough juice to thin the smoothie to the consistency you like.
- Fresh and frozen berries are great in this recipe. Don’t worry about thawing the berries ahead of time; toss them into the blender.
- Use a mix of the berries you like best! If there is a berry you don’t want to include, add the same amount of a berry you do want!
- If you wish for the smoothie to be sweeter, then feel free to add a sweetener like honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup.

What are the ingredients for a berry smoothie?
Most berry smoothie recipes will list the same essential items: berries, a liquid, and ice. Some recipes will toss in a banana or veggies, like spinach, but most stick with berries like strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. The liquid included in different recipes can range from orange juice to apple juice to milk. Other times, additions like tofu and Greek yogurt are written in to help add creamy protein. Like all smoothies, berry smoothies are extremely versatile and forgiving, so use this recipe as a starting point towards creating your favorite berry smoothie ever!

Can I freeze fresh berries?
Frozen berries are great in smoothies because they add creaminess without diluting the drink with ice. The more frozen fruit you use, the less ice you need! In the summer, when you can find amazing deals on fresh berries, it can be well worth the trouble of popping any berries you won’t eat in time into a freezer-safe container and freezing them for up to three months. When freezing strawberries and raspberries, be sure to hull them and remove the greens before freezing.
