Ingredients
Meat: For this cheeseburger pizza recipe, we’re using 80/20 or 85/15 ground beef (seasoned with salt and pepper as it cooks) and crumbled, crispy bacon.
Veggies: Because we love a classic cheeseburger, we’re topping this pizza with tomatoes, lettuce, and red onion (or your choice of onion). Pickles are a great option as well!
Cheese: We love cheddar, but any cheese that melts smoothly will be spectacular!
Condiments: Use a piping bag to drizzle a little mayo over the top of the finished pizza. (You could also use mustard, ketchup, big mac sauce, fry sauce, etc.!)
Crust: Any pizza crust, flatbread, or homemade crust can serve as the foundation for this cheeseburger pizza!
How to Make a Cheesy Hamburger Pizza!
STEP ONE: Preheat the oven based on your chosen crust. Cook the bacon until almost crispy. Season and cook the ground beef and drain. Shred the cheese and crumble the bacon. Spread the grated cheese evenly over the crust.
STEP TWO: Top it with the cooked beef and bacon crumbles. Slide the pizza into the oven and bake according to the crust instructions.
STEP THREE: While the pizza cooks, dice fresh tomatoes and red onion, and finely chop the lettuce. As soon as the pizza comes out of the oven, top it with these fresh veggies.
STEP FOUR: Finish this fabulous recipe with a generous drizzle of mayo in a fun swirl or zig-zag pattern. Slice into squares or pie-shaped wedges and enjoy!
Tips for Success
- Brush the edges of the pizza crust with an egg wash and sprinkle it with sesame seeds to recreate that “sesame seed bun” flavor!
- Avoid overcooking the ground beef or bacon, as they will continue to cook in the oven when used as a pizza topping.
- You can add a spread of butter or bacon grease to the pizza crust before adding toppings to add great flavor depth and keep the crust from getting “sauce soggy” in the middle.
- Freshly grated cheese is far superior to the pre-shredded cheese you find at the grocery store. It melts more smoothly and has a richer flavor.
- Pickles on a pizza? You bet! Seriously – whatever toppings you love on a burger, you will love on this pizza as well!
What Goes on Cheeseburger Pizza?
A cheeseburger pizza combines all the components of a delicious burger and places them on a tasty pizza crust. So, the best toppings for this pizza are the toppings you love best on a burger! Crumbled ground beef and cheese are essential, along with a selection of any of the following: pickles, onion, lettuce, tomato, mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup. The condiments can be a sauce at the bottom or a drizzle on top.
To get a true cheeseburger experience, use both hot and cold ingredients. For example, you may choose to sear the onions with the ground beef and bake the pickles into the melty cheese – OR – you could add diced, fresh onions to the top along with dill pickle slices, ripe tomatoes, and crispy, cold lettuce.
How Do I Make Ground Beef Taste Good?
To make delicious ground beef for a cheeseburger pizza or a great burger, cook the meat the same way you would for a juicy, tasty burger. Start with a higher-fat ground beef, as the meat will be twice-cooked (in the skillet and again in the oven as a pizza topping). The higher fat content will ensure the most flavor. Add a generous combination of seasonings, such as garlic powder, minced onion, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, beef bouillon, salt, and pepper, for layers of great flavor!

Equipment
Ingredients
- ½ pound ground beef
- 6 slices bacon
- 12 inch pizza crust (see note)
- ½ cup cheddar cheese shredded
- ¼ cup tomatoes chopped
- ¼ cup lettuce chopped
- 2 tablespoons red onion peeled and minced
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or sauce of choice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to the package directions for the pizza crust.
- Cook the ground beef, breaking up the meat, until it's cooked through. Drain any excess grease. Cook the bacon until crispy, flipping as needed. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Once cool, crumble it into pieces.
- Spread shredded cheese evenly over the pizza crust. Then top the cheese with the ground beef and bacon.
- Cook the pizza according to the package directions for the crust. Remove the pizza from the oven.
- While still hot, top with tomatoes, lettuce, and red onion. Finish with a zig-zag or swirl of mayonnaise over the top of the pizza. To make adding the mayo easy, put it in a food storage bag and snip the corner, resulting in a makeshift piping bag. Cut into 6 slices and enjoy!
