A perfectly sweet drink full of summer vibes, Cherry Limeade was made for living it up on hot days by the Slip and Slide!
When all the kids are heading over to your house for summer shenanigans, Cherry Limeade is the drink you know they’ll all be asking for! For a cheers-worthy drink on a memory-making afternoon, this simple drink only needs four ingredients: lemon-lime soda, maraschino cherries, lime juice, and simple syrup.
A Sweet, Fizzy Cool Down
Everyone has their favorite summer drinks, but we can all agree that a tall glass of Cherry Limeade IS summer. This drink just has all the most perfect summer flavors like sweet, tart, fruity and bubbly- it’s impossible to not love this refreshing drink! I also love that I can make a big pitcher of it for all of the kids and just refill cups throughout the afternoon so I get to soak up the sun too instead of making lots of individual drinks. This recipe can be made with diet soda for my friends who prefer that, so it’s a perfect drink for everyone! Poolside, grilling, or wearing a parka while waiting for warmer days, whipping up some Cherry Limeade will fill you with serious summer fun.

Ingredients
Fruity Items: You will need a jar of stemless Maraschino cherries in syrup and lime juice.
Soda: Choose your favorite Sprite, 7UP, or Sierra Mist – as long as it’s a lemon-lime soda.
Simple Syrup: You will need simple syrup for this drink, which you can purchase at some grocery stores or at any liquor store. You can also make your own, it’s really easy! Simply simmer 1 cup of water and 1 cup of white sugar until the sugar is fully dissolved. Let the simple syrup cool to room temperature or chill it before using it. Simple syrup will last up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator.
Ice: You will need enough ice to add to the pitcher and to everyone’s glasses to keep the Cherry Limeade cool.
How to Make Cherry Limeade
STEP ONE: In a large pitcher, combine the soda, the cherries with the cherry syrup, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice.
STEP TWO: Stir to mix everything together. Add some ice to the glass and fill with Cherry Limeade. Garnish with a lime slice and some cherries from the pitcher and enjoy!
Tips for Success
- To keep the Cherry Limeade fun and bubbly, don’t make this drink too far in advance. As with all soda, the longer you leave it out the more flat it will become.
- To get 1 cup of lime juice you’ll need a bag of limes. The freshness from the limes is delicious in this drink but if all you have is lime juice concentrate, that’ll work too. Start by using 1/2 cup of the concentrate and taste the Cherry Limeade- if it needs more, add more to your liking!
- Make a lot of ice ahead of time or purchase a bag of ice so that you have plenty on hand for this drink!
Can I make Cherry Limeade with Vodka?
For a grown-up version of a Cherry Limeade, you can add about 4 ounces of vodka to a shaker, along with the Cherry Limeade, shake and strain into an ice-filled glass.
What is Sonic’s Cherry Limeade made of?
The popular Sonic Cherry Limeade drink is made with similar ingredients: lemon-lime soda, maraschino cherry juice, frozen limeade concentrate, and Sonic’s signature ice. This homemade version makes enough for a group of people and is just as delicious as the Sonic drink!
