The best fry sauce ever?!

We all know I have a very special soft spot for fast food. If I’m not at home testing out some new and exciting recipe, then you can absolutely find me at the local Chipotle or White Castle. When it comes to fries and burgers though, Freddy’s has my heart. If you haven’t had the luxury of visiting a Freddy’s, then please – drop everything, go on a road trip to the closest franchise. You’ll thank me.

The BEST thing about Freddy’s is Freddy’s jalapeno fry sauce. It’s literally to die for. Don’t come at me with “but Aubrey… Chick-fil-A sauce is king…” NOPE. Jalapeno fry sauce is where it’s at. You can smother french fries with it, you can smear it all over your burger, you can dip chicken strips in it… the list is endless.

Unfortunately, I don’t currently live near a Freddy’s currently (yes, my husband knows that if we ever move again that proximity to jalapeno fry sauce is on my list of must-haves…), so I had to figure out how to make it on my own. Believe me when I say I’ve got a copycat recipe here that exceeds expectations because of one simple addition: BACON. Bacon makes everything better, am I right?

So, whether you’re craving some Freddy’s fry sauce or you’re just looking for a new condiment to serve up at your next barbecue, whip up a batch of this fry sauce recipe. You won’t be disappointed!

What is fry sauce made of?

Ketchup & Mayo – almost every french fry dipping sauce recipe (or “special sauce”) has its base made of a combination of ketchup and mayonnaise. I’ve found that the sweet spot for bacon jalapeno fry sauce is 1/2 cup mayo to 1/4 cup ketchup.

Bacon – the key to the perfect jalapeno fry sauce is CRISPY bacon! I love cooking bacon in the oven to achieve the ultimate crispiness!

Fresh Jalapeno – you’ll need about 2 tablespoons of freshly minced jalapeno for this fry sauce recipe. Just make sure you wash your hands after chopping it, nobody wants jalapeno juice accidentally rubbed in their eye!

How to Make Jalapeno Fry Sauce

STEP ONE: Start by cooking the bacon in a large skillet. Remember, you want crispy bacon to go in your fry sauce. While the bacon is cooking, mince the jalapenos. Throw the crumbled bacon and jalapenos into a mixing bowl with the mayo and ketchup.

STEP TWO: Stir all the sauce ingredients together until they’re combined. Check the seasoning and add salt and pepper to your taste. That’s it!

Tips for Success

  • This dip is great on everything from fries to onion rings and burgers.
  • Store any leftovers in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • If you want your dip spicier, use two jalapenos instead of one – for a total of 2 tablespoons of minced jalapeno. You can also leave the seeds in for a bigger kick.

Can you buy Freddy’s Fry Sauce?

Like any fast food franchise, Freddy’s has begun to sell their jalapeno fry sauce nationwide. I personally prefer this homemade recipe because I know exactly what’s going into it (no preservatives, no colors, etc.) so I can feel better about dousing my french fries in it. But also… I mentioned the bacon, right? Everything is better with bacon…

But, if you’re really craving some Freddy’s jalapeno fry sauce, here’s where you can grab it: Amazon, Freddy’s restaurants, and eBay (yup).

  • Serve immediately as a dip for fries or onion rings or as a spread for sandwiches and burgers. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.

While this is good, I make a sauce that omits the jalepeno that tastes just as good. First it’s mayo, brown mustard, ketchup, and spicy A-1. You can use spicy brown mustard to kick it up more. Ratio is 4 parts mayo, 2 parts mustard, 1 part A1 and ketchup. I use on burgers, fries, chicken. Like yours, try mine.
