Fruity, fun, & easy, this Sex on the Beach recipe takes just 5 minutes! Vodka, peach schnapps, orange, and cranberry juices are mixed in a glass or pitcher.
Summer is here, and that means it’s time to start mixing up your favorite classic summer drinks! Whether you’re a pina colada fan or you’re all about sipping a Sex on the Beach, fruity drinks are the BEST.
I’ve made this many times in a small batch for just my husband and me, and pitchers of it to entertain with. I’ve got the ratios down for both now. Garnish your Sex on the Beach drink with some maraschino cherries and orange slices, and you’ll look like a professional bartender!

Cocktail Perfection
With a yummy (but simple) mixture of juice, vodka, and peach schnapps, it’s no wonder this Sex on the Beach drink recipe has a 4.8-star rating from our readers! It’ll have you wishing you had your bum in the sand as the waves crash on your feet in no time. Summer, here we come!

Sex on the Beach Ingredients

Vodka
Don’t go crazy using super fancy vodka; the flavor of it is mostly masked by the juice. I typically go middle-of-the-road vodka personally. The cheap stuff leaves you feeling icky, but don’t waste the expensive stuff on a mixed drink!
Peach Schnapps
Peach Schnapps is a sweet, peach-flavored liqueur and a major part of the flavor of the drink. It’s great to have on hand for all kinds of other drinks, like a fuzzy navel.
Orange Juice
Feel free to use any orange juice you have, whether it’s pulp-free or has pulp; it will all be delicious.
Cranberry Juice
Both cranberry cocktail or 100% cranberry juice work in this drink. Keep in mind there is more sugar in the cranberry juice cocktail, so if you’re looking to reduce the sweetness of this drink, the 100% juice may be the best option.
How to make a Sex on the Beach drink
This Sex on the Beach recipe makes one cocktail, but I always end up making a BIG batch so everyone can come back for seconds (or thirds). The best thing about making a Sex on the Beach cocktail is how easy it is. Just pour, shake, or stir, and serve!
Making Just One Serving
When making just one cocktail, I like to use a cocktail shaker with crushed ice. This makes sure the drink gets nice and cold, even a little frothy. If you don’t have one, don’t worry, it’s not a deal breaker. Just make it right inside your glass and stir well.

Topping with Grenadine and Garnish
To top with a float of grenadine, use a spoon to pour the grenadine into the cocktail-filled glass. This way, it’ll sink to the bottom of the drink for a great layered look. Garnish your glasses with a fresh orange slice and a maraschino cherry. (I love throwing in one of those cute little cocktail umbrellas for some extra fun!)

Making a Pitcher
Want to make a big batch in a pitcher? Use 1 cup of vodka, 1 cup of peach schnapps, 2 cups of orange juice, and 2 cups of cranberry juice. You can either add 1/4 cup of grenadine to the pitcher or pour it into each cocktail once it’s poured.
If you’re making this ahead of time, leave out the ice until you’re ready to serve. Add ice into the glasses instead of the pitcher, or freeze berries or peach slices to keep the pitcher cold without watering it down.

Tips for Success
- If you don’t have a cocktail shaker on hand, don’t worry. You can assemble this drink right in the glass. Just stir everything together before pouring in the grenadine.
- You can tone down the sweetness easily, add grenadine to your taste, or add a little squeeze of lime juice to tone things down.
- Want a lighter option? Use 100 cranberry juice and reduce the amount of grenadine.
- Need a mocktail? Forget the vodka and peach schnapps, mix the juices and top with a splash of soda water or ginger ale, and top with a grenadine float.

How did Sex on the Beach get its name?
The story goes that this cocktail comes from Florida, where a bartender whipped it up as part of a peach schnapps promotion. He figured most people in Florida for spring break were there for the beach and sex…hence the name.
