If you live in a small space, you know how difficult it can be to decorate during the holidays. For many, there’s simply no room for a Christmas tree or space to store those tubs of decorations.
A great solution for those with limited space is to create the feel of Christmas by recycling something you already have in your home and using them in creative ways. Here are a few examples to get you thinking outside the box.
Consider making a Christmas tree mobile. I love that this tree doesn’t require floor space or wall space. Created with paint sticks and hung from a wire cooling rack, it can be easily stored in a shoe box when not on display. (image via curbly.com)
And if you miss the feel and smell of a true evergreen, consider bundling a collection of evergreen twigs and hanging them on the wall. There’s nothing like a day spent hiking through the woods to get you in the spirit. And best of all, it will cost you nothing. Another alternative is to create a wall vignette filled with holiday cheer. A willow wreath strung with dried dichondra adds the silvery look of a snowy outdoors while a collection of holiday bling hung inside a picture frame adds sparkle
Strung with nylon filament, they looks as if they’re floating in air.
Ladders are a popular piece of furniture that can function in a multitude of places in a small space. But during the holidays they make a beautiful display when strung with simple white lights and a small collection of shimmery ornaments.
The holidays are all about the spirit of the season. So whether or not you decorate for Christmas isn’t as important as simply celebrating what the season is all about. But if your longing for a little holiday cheer in your small space, these alternatives are the perfect way to create the feel without sacraficing precious space.
