At least once a year I try to take inventory of my spaces and clear out the clutter that inevitably accumulates over time. And today I tackled my workspace – a place that had become a hodgepodge of office supplies and diy decor attempts that mostly fell flat.

It’s not pretty, but it’s life. This is simply what happens after a year of daily use!

And this was my sad but industrious attempt to make cohesive a collection of mismatched desk accessories. Not exactly the modern glam look I was going for.
So I searched out some pieces to help me organize and create a more cohesive look for my workspace, and I love what I found.
- storage box
- scissors
- acrylic easel
- stapler
- paper clips
- acrylic file tray
- calendar
A collection of pretty boxes, a set of matching desk accessories, and a few personal pieces made my workspace an inspirational spot I look forward to working in. And best of all, I didn’t spend a fortune doing so. (Click the links above to find where they are available.)
I also added a few creative touches to make the space more personal. With a matching pair of frames I found at a thrift store, I created a planner and the perfect place to house my calendar.
The planner above was made by simply placing a fitted piece of cardstock into the frame to act as a backdrop, and I use a chalkboard marker to jot down upcoming projects. It’s the perfect solution if you’re a visual person like me. Having goals in plain sight helps keep me on task.
And my calendar sits nicely on my desk within easy reach. Again, it’s in plain sight; but I love that it’s not taking up additional desk space.
Such an improvement. It’s amazing how much more productive we are when our spaces are functional and organized. And don’t forget the impact of a well-designed space that reflects your personal style. When you do so, you’ll be much more inspired to complete the tasks at hand!
