Summer has been over in a few places for awhile now. Where I live we’re just now starting to get that cooler Fall weather. Since I’m only just now transitioning my makeup bag from Summer items to Fall items I thought it would be a great idea to share with you my Fall beauty must haves. You don’t have to use these exact items these are just the ones that I swear by.
Lipstick
One of the first things to be changed out in my makeup bag is lipstick. During the Spring and Summer I rock coral and bright pink lips most days so when Fall hits it’s time to switch it up to deeper shades. Two of my favorite Fall lipstick shades are Mac’s Cyber and Mac’s Mac Red. If you feel that Cyber might be to deep of a purple for you Mac’s Heroine is a lighter shade of purple that looks absolutely stunning. If you like a more glossy look instead of the satin lipstick look then a NYX Butter Gloss might be a good option as they have several shades (Cherry Pie and Devil’s Food Cake are great substitutes for the Mac lipsticks) that will work for Fall AND they’re only $5.
Soap
One thing about Fall for me is that it’s the start of the super skin drying weather. If I’m not careful by time Winter hits repairing my skin can be very time consuming. I combat that by starting to use a hydrating body wash. My personal favorite is pretty much anything in the St. Ives line as they’re body washes feel luxurious, moisturize my skin, and are pretty cost effective. The Indulgent Coconut Milk St. Ives is a current favorite of mine as it still lets me hold onto Summer just a bit longer.
Nail Polish
My absolute favorite beauty item for Fall is “vampy” nail polish. I love the transition from brights and pastels to the deep and dark polishes. I tend to have more blacks, deep reds, dark purples, and grays in my collection than I do bright polishes. A very popular Fall polish right now is Essie’s Wicked, I’ve seen this all over Instagram recently and let me tell you it’s absolutely GORGEOUS. I can’t wait to wear this polish and a few other deep and dark shades that I have.
Moisturizer
Technically this isn’t a Fall must have, it should be an “All Through the Year” must have. Moisturizing your skin is super important, even those with oily skin should be moisturizing (they have moisturizers for all skin types). Here’s the important par though SPF. That’s right, even though Summer is over the Sun is still beating down on you and can still cause damage. A moisturizer with SPF in it should still be used during the winter.
Hand Cream
I consider a good hand cream to not only be a Fall must have but the most important must have. The Fall weather can start to be very drying and if you’re anything like me Fall is when you really start to carry that hand sanitizer around everywhere with you. The weather in addition to the drying effects of the sanitizer can take their toll on your hands so a good hand cream is a necessity. L’Occitane’s Dry Skin Hand Cream is my hands down absolute favorite so much so that I have three sizes (this mini that stays with me in the house, a travel size that stays in my purse, and a normal size that stays in the bathroom)! This leaves my skin super soft, moisturized, and they stay that way for ages.
