Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package directions. If you're using zucchini noodles, sprinkle them generously with sea salt and set them aside in a large bowl. Note: before you serve the zucchini noodles, rinse the salt off under hot running water.
Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. Heat the oil in a medium-sized pot over high heat and add the onion. Saute the onion for about 8 minutes, or until it is well browned. Turn down the heat to medium-high and add the garlic to the pot and let it cook for 1 minute.
Add the ground beef to the pot and let it cook until it is no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
Add the crushed tomatoes, honey and balsamic to the pot and bring it to a simmer. Season the sauce generously with sea salt.
Optional step:
Blend the sauteed onion and garlic with the crushed tomatoes until smooth then add this to the cooked ground beef.
Notes
This dinner great if you need to accommodate different diets. I usually make zucchini noodles for myself and regular spaghetti noodles for the man.
