Mix yellow box cake according to package directions, bake in 9x13 pan and let cool.
Crumble cake into a large bowl.
Add 2/3 cup frosting and mix together until all combined.
Place cake/frosting mixture onto a parchment lined tray and form a square cake, about 1 inch tall.
Place in freezer for 30 minutes.
Cut cake into 24 equal triangle pieces. (I work with only half at a time so I cut them into 12 pieces).
Place back in freezer.
Melt yellow, candy melts in a glass bowl for 1 minute in the microwave.
Stir candy and place back in microwave for 30 more seconds.
Continue this until all candy melts are completely melted.
To make the candy melts a more smooth consistency (easier for coating), add vegetable oil, shortening or paramount crystals (found at specialty stores) a little at a time to the candy melts and stir until dissolved.
Remove candy corn shaped cake bites from freezer and dip bottom part of cake bite in the yellow candy melts.
Shake gently and place on tray.
Place them back into the freezer.
Melt the orange candy melts and continue the same process of dipping the cake bites and then repeat with the white candy melts.
