Irish Julep

Ingredients

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 10-14 mint leaves
  • 6 oz Irish whiskey
  • crushed ice

Instructions

  • Prepare the simple syrup by adding the sugar to the water in a medium saucepan. Boil on low heat until the sugar has dissolved and syrup has thickened slightly. Remove and let cool.
  • Place an ounce of sugar in two cocktail glasses. Place 5-7 mint leaves in each glass and crush with the back of a wooden spoon. Add 1 1/2 ounces of whiskey to each glass and top with a little crushed ice; stir. Top each glass with another 1 1/2 ounces of whiskey and more crushed ice. Serve.
