This Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie is just what you need to start your day right. It is an easy breakfast that tastes delicious and can be eaten at home or on-the-go!
Hi, friends! I’m Sarah from High Heels and Grills, which is a food blog that I run with my husband, Zach. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love Aubrey and also how much I love food. So…you can probably put two and two together as to why I’m here. That’s right – I’m Aubrey’s newest contributor here on Real Housemoms! And I’m so excited about it.
Today, I’m sharing with you, one of mine and Zach’s favorite smoothie recipes. I don’t know about you, but I’m not much of a breakfast person. At all. I basically have only two breakfast preferences – cereal and smoothies. And since there’s really no such thing as a cereal recipe {unless you count getting the perfect proportions of cereal to milk because that is seriously important}, I’m here to share a smoothie recipe instead!
This Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie is a tasty and filling smoothie that is perfect to start your day with. The frozen bananas and ice help to keep things thick, delicious, and cold, the almond milk helps to keep the calories really low, the oatmeal adds somebody to it to keep you full longer and the chocolate and peanut butter are mostly for taste if we’re being honest here. Because who doesn’t like the combo of chocolate and peanut butter?! {If you just raised your hand, you can leave. Now.}
The best part about breakfast recipes like this is that you can eat them at home or on the go, the taste amazing, and if your kids are anything like mine, they will love it. High fives for getting your kid to eat good food!
Ingredients
- 1 very ripe banana frozen
- ½ cup almond milk
- ½ cup ice
- ¼ cup old-fashioned oats
- 3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- Freeze the banana for 2-3 hours before using. (see note) You can freeze some bananas days ahead of time so they're ready whenever you want a smoothie.
- Add the banana, milk, ice, oats, peanut butter, and cocoa powder to a blender. Cover and puree until smooth.
- Pour into a glass and serve immediately. If desired garnish with some banana slices, oats, cocoa powder, melted peanut butter, and/or chocolate chips.
Notes
- If you prefer, you can use 2% or whole milk in place of almond milk...or another non-dairy milk you prefer.
- Freeze the bananas ahead of time in slices around 2 inches thick. If you freeze the entire banana before cutting it, it will be too difficult to blend or chop. This is also a great way of using those very ripe bananas on your counter!
